The Musical
Lockhart High School Choir's upcoming musical, "A Broadway Review", could not come at a better time for Darryl Roach. After seeing "The Phantom Of The Opera" three times and being his senior year, it gives him the perfect oppertunity to bring to life a a part of the musical he loves. Work for this piece of a masterpiece began in February. However, "The Phantom Of The Opera" is not the only musical that will be coming to life in part with "A Broadway Review". Here is a list of musicals that will be featured in this review:
The Phantom Of The Opera
The Sound Of Music
Grease
Oklahoma
Hairspray
Bye Bye Birdie
Les Miserables
Miss Saigon
Chicago
and more...
The musical will play for two days only, two shows a day. The cast will not change per show as it may on Broadway. The only way any cast members will not be seen will be due to illness. The show will cost $3 a ticket. Please buy tickets in advance via the Choir office, as the show may be sold out. You can contact the Choir offices at: (512) 398-0342. And, of course, the show information:

The Medley
Originally, there was not going to be a medley. There would only be a few selected songs from "The Phantom Of The Opera". It was decided, though, that it would be much easier to do a medley of songs from it, and so it was ordered. This particular medley is the only known official choral arrangement of Andrew Lloyd Webber's award winning masterpiece. It features the following songs from "The Phantom Of The Opera":
The Phantom Of The Opera
Think Of Me
Angel Of Music
All I Ask Of You
The Point Of No Return
Work is underway with the four cast members for this section of "A Broadway Musical". Also, the entire Phantom section of this musical has given Darryl Roach the position of Director. The medley will run approximately ten minutes and forty-five seconds.
The Cast
The Phantom's Medley
Roy Darryl Roach
(The Phantom Of The Opera)
Darryl has been touring with the choir for four years now, his last as a senior. He has gone places with them like New York City, Disney World, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and Sea World Of Texas to name a few. He has been to many competitions with them and has represented them at many events. This is not his only musical, however. Two years ago he played many roles in the three part "Disney Musical". His most popular role was the infamous Disney character, "Zazu". He thinks this is a vital role to play in the Broadway musical as a leaving senior. He looks forward to directing this piece of the musical as well as playing the lead role in it. He first saw Phantom when the choir visited NYC in May of 2001. He then saw it again on the national tour in Austin in February of 2003. He knows the musical and his character very well.
Jodi Adams
(Christine Daa)
Jodi has also been a long time veteran of the choir. Though she was not yet a member on the 2001 tour of the choir, she did take part in the Disney musical. She played several roles, as well. She takes interest in many Broadway musicals, loving all of them and their music (for the most part). Phantom is most likely her all time favorite musical, and not giving her the role of Christine would be a mistake. She knows the enitre thing inside and out, and it would be a shame to give the part to someone that does not know as much about Christine Daa as Jodi does.
Emilio Stratton
(Raoul Vicomte de Chagny)
Emilio is one of the newest members of the choir. Introduced only last year, he has advanced very well. He has been to Disney World already, and has advanced successfully in many competitions already. He has never seen the musical, but he seems to already understand the place of his role. He has learned very quickly and is very excited to play in the Broadway musical. A note: His girlfriend Melody Rice will play the role of Meg Giry.
Melody Rice
(Meg Giry)
Another senior member of the choir that has been with them for a while. She too has been many places with the choir, and has done very well at many competitions. Normally she doesn't seem to like doing the musicals for the most part, but begged to have this role for this part of the musical. She is a great vocal singer with a flexible soprano voice, an A+ for the role of Meg Giry. A note: Her boyfriend Emilio Stratton will play the role of Raoul.
The Sound Of Music
Skipton Kloss
(The Father)
Skip has a great record with the choir, dating back to the sixth grade. Yes, it is a high school choir, but his older brother also toured with them, and Skip would often help out with his brother. Skip toured with the choir as well to many places, including NYC and Disney World. He has not visited as many competitions, but still holds a reputation as a good, retiring senior.
Roy Darryl Roach
(alternative for The Father)
Johnathan Murski
(understudy for The Father)
Johnathan is a senior, but was introduced to the choir only this year. He has not yet had enough performances to have such a vital role, but he has to be an understudy. He has had a great year as his first and last year in the choir, and a role like this can prepare him for the future.
The other parts of the musical may have been casted already, but are not ready to appear here just yet.
